Oftentimes, many people confuse asexuality with celibacy. However, these two things are very different. Asexuality is the lack of sexual interest or desire. A celibate is someone who takes a Celibacy pledge. When they take this pledge, most swear to wait until marriage (or for the rest of their lives), before having sex. Being a celibate is a choice many people make to avoid children being born out of wedlock (out of marriage).
